I made your clothes 4.jpg
Ranjit Kumar

Hailing from Sanjivinagar, I studied D.F.Tech (Diploma in Film making). I always had an interest in tailoring, though I treated that as a hobby. In time, I decided to pursue a career in tailoring. Before joining Upasana, I was working in Chennai for 18 years as a tailor. I joined Upasana in October 2014. I love working at Upasana since there is a wide range of styles and experimenting that happens here, and my team trusts me with my work. I support my family with the salary I earn at Upasana.

Kara Weaves is a social enterprise creating working with co-operatives to create fair-trade certified hand-woven textiles in south-west India. Kara partners with local weaving co-operatives in Kerala (India) to design contemporary home textiles. Each product is made from a very ancient local fabric called the “thorthu” that is hand-made at traditional wooden looms.

Kara Weaves was started in the year 2008, stands for everything we love about handmade products and the people who make them. This first-of-its-kind attempt in Kerala hopes to bridge the gap between this traditional weaving art form and a contemporary lifestyle.
