Women Empowerment in true sense

“Failure will never overtake me, if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” FTF-I Member Literacy India and its Woman Entrepreneur Poonam Singh have proved it right. Literacy India empowered Poonam, a single mother who was abandoned by her husband a long time ago, by nurturing her skills in stitching and tailoring. Since then she has been associated with Literacy India as Indha Artisan but her journey never stopped there and today she is not only an Indha artisan, but also an individual entrepreneur. She started her ‘Shop on Wheels’, an initiative supported by Literacy India. She owns an E-rickshaw, which she uses for her community sales of Indha products once in a week and on other days; it doubles as a commuting pool for School Children, office goers and other local commuters. The ‘Shop on Wheels’ has garnered eyeballs of many curious passengers and by passers, who pose numerous questions to Poonam. The interesting part is that, Poonam’s courage has inspired and motivated the young girls and women of the neighbourhood. FTF-I wishes Poonam a successful journey ahead and hopes that Literacy India produces more such successful entrepreneurs and ventures.
